A photograph is supposed to pin a moment down. My work begins by letting it go.
PROCESSI keep coming back to the idea that nothing we experience is static. By the time we see what’s in front of us, it has already changed. And of course, no two people see quite the same thing. Everything is blurrier than that.
This is where my work begins. By embracing our shifting perception, I create images that are felt before they are fully understood. Using movement, distortion, light and abstraction, I pull subjects away from literal documentation. A body becomes a presence. A landscape becomes something closer to memory, and the viewer brings something of themselves to what remains.
Experimentation is central to my process. I follow instinct and chance, chasing the thrill of discovering that unplanned magic. I'm also exploring photography as a starting point for other mediums; printing on different materials, emulsions, transfers and working with light and projection to create more emotional and immersive experiences.
As my images let go of certainty, I find myself doing the same. I'm learning to let go of fixed ideas—about myself, about reality, about what an image should be—and to trust a more instinctual way of seeing.
